Fireplace Installation & Stone Prep

Fireplace

It's Wednesday, August 26th, and the gas fireplace has arrived. The second coat of insulation was supposed to be applied today as well, but the specialized truck that is needed to do that broke down yesterday. Hopefully, they'll be here tomorrow.

Fireplace Venting

Here, they guys are working on the venting of the fireplace.

Stone Prep

The stone guys are finally going to begin their work tomorrow as well. Here, Scott is applying the required "backing" to the areas that will be done in stone.

Fire Block

Another reason I went to college ;-)

Each drilled hole that goes between the 2 x 4 studs in the walls must be filled with a special type of foam insulation called a "fire block". There are a LOT of holes to fill.
